Stephen + Barbara | November Weddings

Can I just say, I love winter weddings! They’re just different, from the flowers, to the venues, and sometimes a change of pace is refreshing. I’m thankful, though, that it wasn’t too cold to do photos outside. Couple portraits may be my favorite part of every wedding, and I hate to have to cut them short because of weather! The other thing I like about winter weddings is that the light is so much better at the time people usually want take pictures. I always try to schedule around the nice light, but sometimes it just isn’t possible. It was great having such good light at 3pm when we had to do all the portraits! Huzzah for good light! Speaking of good light, check out the chapel where the ceremony was held! Stephen and Barbara got married in the chapel at St. David’s School in Raleigh, and it was GORGEOUS! The reception that followed was at the Five Points Center nearby.

I don’t know Stephen and Barbara well, but after attending their wedding the best word I can think of to describe them is FUN. I mean just LOOK at those reception pics. Anyone who can get on a chair and belt the lyrics (and play air guitar) to Don’t Stop Believing is fun in my book. I LOVE how expressive they both are, especially throughout the first look and the ceremony. It’s such a joy to photograph other people’s joy! I mean how can you not smile too?? Congratulations again Stephen and Barbara!

Special thanks to Carolyn (my long-time friend and wedding shooting buddy) for second-shooting this one with me! She’s great and owns her own business, Carolyn Marie Photography, that you should definitely check out!
