May Goals

Busy seasons for photographers in North Carolina are April and May and September and October. I know this, and yet every year I’m surprised at how quickly my calendar fills up, and how easy it is to get behind on my editing and delivering goals. When I wrote this post 3 days ago I had nothing in my editing queue and it felt oh so glorious. (Today I have 4 sessions from Saturday to edit and I’m photographing another one tonight). I’m hoping by this weekend that I’ll be able to say again there is nothing currently on my plate. Let’s do this!

To do:

  • Stay on top of editing and blogging – My new method of blogging makes that part of the process go much faster, so I have no excuse for not blogging as I deliver sessions to my clients. My goal for portrait sessions this month is that no one waits longer than 10 days for their photos, and no one gets their photos before their blogged, so it’s going to mean a lot of scheduling and discipline. I’m actually a little excited about the challenge!
  • Make exercising a habit – I go through periods where I do a great job of exercising regularly, and I have way more energy. Then I get to a busy stretch like I’m in the midst of right now, and that’s the first thing to go. I went on my first run in too long this week and my whole body hurts. The reality is I’ll edit better and faster if I take a break to move a little bit, and that’s something I want to do better at even when I’m busy! My measurable goal is 3 times a week.

Done:

  • Finalize and print bridal guide – I am so excited this is finally done!! It’s already been a great way to bless my clients and help them alleviate some of the stress of wedding planning. After all, I’ve been a part of a lot more weddings than most brides, and my clients should be benefiting from all the information!!
  • Submit more weddings to blog – I’ve gotten in a better habit of doing this, and Michael and Erin‘s winter wedding was published on Borrowed and Blue last week! Just because I crossed it off doesn’t mean I won’t keep doing it. =)
  • Sign up with Honeybook – I’ve only been using this site for a month, and I already love it! It makes it so easy to keep track of inquiries, questionnaires, and payments, and I think it will improve my clients’ experience as well. I’ve finally emerged from the stone age and accept credit cards! Hooray!
