I had never been to The Cajun Mansion before Kourtney and Cameron’s big day. It was the perfect setting for their classic, elegant wedding! It’s out in the country not far south of Lafayette, a feels like a gorgeous little getaway from the craziness of the life.

As I was driving into the venue, the clouds were dark and heavy, and there was lots of lightning in the distance. I wasn’t sure if we’d get to make use of the beautiful grounds at the venue or not. It was POURING when I arrived, but the forecast said it would clear out before portraits were supposed to start. 🤞🏼 I brought my clear umbrella just in case it was still drizzling, but we didn’t have to use it! The storm moved past, and by the time portraits rolled around we could go outside. I’m so thankful, because the outside areas at the mansion are so pretty!!

Their Story

Kourtney and Cameron met while working at Sonic in 2016. They started dating the next July and welcomed their sweet daughter in 2018. In November, 2020 Cameron proposed and this month they tied the knot!! They’ve been together long enough that they know each others’ families very well. Kourtney told Cameron’s mom after the ceremony that they were finally officially family! I love that. It was sweet to see how close they are.

The Timeline

As with most weddings, hair and makeup took longer than we expected, so we didn’t get to do as many portraits before the ceremony as we had planned. But on a wedding day, you roll with it! We moved them to after the ceremony and went as quickly as possible. Thankfully the ceremony was a bit shorter than expected, so that helped us make up some of the time.

I will often steal my couples away for 5-10 minutes during the reception if sunset is after the reception starts. That was the case for Kourtney and Cameron! I’m so glad we took that time out of the reception. It allowed us to use another portrait location, and I LOVED the lights! The inside/outside flow of the reception worked really well too. If it was too hot outside, guests could go inside to cool off or get food, but they could also enjoy the music and the sunset on a summer night. What a fun night!!
