Friends, if there were awards for people who are TERRIBLE at sharing important news, I would get one. Or several. You see, back in August, we moved. STATES. We had been in Louisiana for almost 5 years and truly came to see it as home. But this summer we had an opportunity to move back to North Carolina where we’re from (and where Stephen’s family still is), and we took it. It all happened really fast, and I’ve been so busy with the editing side of my business that I haven’t had time to post anything. 

I took these photos of some of our dear friends back in July before we moved. They knew life was about to get crazy for us and that it would take me a while to get their photos back to them. I am SO thankful for their patience as we’ve been getting settled in our new home! But now that it’s time to think about Christmas cards, I figured it was time to end their wait! 

We did this session in the morning, given how horribly hot this past Louisiana summer was. We were fortunate enough to get a cool(er) morning, and the light was perfect! I’m so proud of how well the boys did too. Normally for kids this age I have to pull out all my tricks, but they truly did a great job. 

And I’ve said it before, but it never gets old: one of my favorite things about family photos is getting to work with the same people year after year and watching their families grow. I did photos for them one October at this same location! And I got to take some maternity photos for them when Amanda was pregnant with their second in 2021. 

As I edited these photos this week, it made me miss our friends and church family from Louisiana so much. Not only are the Stutes’ some of our best friends, these photos were taken on the property of some other dear friends. As we start a new chapter in the life of our family, we will forever be thankful for the family we found and the life we built in Louisiana. I hope that 5 years from now we feel this strongly about our new home too.
