This wedding was so special for me! Where to even start. The father of the bride was Stephen’s youth pastor 20 years ago (how is that even possible??), so he remembers when Aubrey was born! I haven’t known Aubrey’s family for quite as long, but they are such kind and selfless people. You can’t leave a conversation with any of them without a smile on your face, and Aubrey is no different! Even back in May during their engagement photos, her joy was so contagious. After hearing the toasts, it seems that’s normal for her.

The weather was our greatest adversary, but thankfully it never rained hard. It started sprinkling during portraits, but Aubrey was such a good sport. She went with it, and I’m so glad she did! Pinehill Pavilion has so many gorgeous places to take pictures, it would have been so sad to not get to use them. And the drizzle made the exit photos AWESOME. Special thanks to Aubrey’s friend Cora for holding my flash for me for that part!

There were so many special little moments throughout the day, which just goes to show how thoughtful Aubrey and Ashwin are. Aubrey wanted to have some time with her dad before the ceremony, and their first look was so emotional and sweet. She invited her whole family to come share that time for a few minutes as well, and it was so special to see how close she, her parents, and her three brothers are. Her first dance with her dad even included time dancing with each of her brothers. I loved it so much, and I hope Clara is that close to her brothers when they grow up!

Aubrey and Ashwin decided not to see each other before their ceremony, so they planned a special “first touch” instead. They both kept their eyes closed while I got them in position, and then they were able to talk and pray together for a few minutes. On a fast-paced day full of family and friends and, let’s admit it, a little chaos, I know this quiet moment together was so special.

The other moment I loved was right before their exit. Aubrey and I had talked about them doing a last dance while the guests got set up outside. When the time came, Aubrey said they decided not to do it, but we had a minute, so I suggested they dance anyway. No music, no people, just them smiling and spinning, and enjoying each other. And I know it sounds cheesy, but I hope that this is something that characterizes their marriage: even when there’s no music, dance anyway. Congratulations, Aubrey and Ashwin!!
