What a beautiful day January 10th was! With all the weather we had on the Saturdays in January after that, it seems silly that we were worried about some rain showers on a 60 degree day 😂 It was super windy, and Jenna’s veil even blew off at one point during photos with her mom and bridesmaids! But I’ll take that over freezing rain and below freezing temperatures any day.

I’ve known Jenna’s family for a long time! We went to church together when Stephen and I were first married 12 and a half years ago. I’m not sure how it’s possible that it’s been that long! I even did family photos for their family almost 10 years ago! It’s so special to get to be a part of my clients’ lives for so long and celebrate these special milestones with them.

Jenna and Cort were married at St. Mary’s Chapel near Hillsborough. It’s a gorgeous little country church with bright walls and dark wood pews. The simple white flowers and fabric decorations were the perfect touch! Jenna got dressed in one of the school buildings on-site, and we took pre-ceremony pictures out on a hill overlooking some farmland. It was so windy out there, but totally worth it! When it came time for the ceremony, the excitement was tangible. And the moment those back doors open is always so special! It was sweet seeing Jenna’s dad lead a hymn during the ceremony and to see all the little smiles and looks Jenna and Cort shared.

The reception took place at Spruce Pine Lodge north of Durham. ‘Lodge’ is absolutely the perfect word to describe its rustic charm! Jenna and Cort’s friends and family worked so hard making the decorations perfect, and it showed. They had an awesome donut display in lieu of a cake and table games for people to enjoy while eating and chatting. It felt cozy and unhurried, and I loved that!

Also, here’s your sign to do something spontaneous: Jenna and Cort hadn’t planned on doing any dancing at the reception. But then we had a minute while the guests were getting lined up for the exit. Jenna particularly loved the lights on the back porch, so I suggested they dance a little even without any music. And those are some my favorite pictures we took all day! It was the perfect sweet and quiet moment to end such a wonderful day. Congratulations, Jenna and Cort!
